Eddie Hearn was recently interviewed at the Allen-Brown show and revealed a few interesting details related to his upcoming July 15th card in the UK…
Hearn claims the Whyte fight was made possible after Fury’s team turned down a clash with Rivas. It has already been reported that highly ranked heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte will face the underrated and undefeated Oscar Rivas this summer. It’s a fight that surprised some considering that Rivas, who recently knocked out former world title challenger Bryan Jennings is under the same management as Tyson Fury and was presumed to be a future opponent.
Additionally, the July 15th date will be a UK pay-per-view and will be supported by a competitive under card with at least “three or four really good fights” to support a pay-per-vew. Likely options for the card are: Denis Lebedev vs Lawrence Okolie for the WBA cruiserweight world title, Dave Allen vs David Price and the usual Matchroom cast versus TBA.
Nothing to report yet on the Anthony Joshua sweepstakes but Joe Joyce and Derek Chisora are officially ruled out – stop the presses, I know. It’s down to Luis Ortiz, Miachel Hunter and two or three others.
So Michael Hunter it is.
